Paradigm Shift in Science

We are experiencing a veritable paradigm shift in science right at the moment. In the past, the general notion was that for scientific progress, high human intelligence was needed. So scientists were mainly selected for their intelligence. Now many observers agree that scientific progress will be mostly made by artificial intelligence systems. That greatly reduces the general interest in human intelligence. Intelligent human beings might be needed to create artificial intelligence systems and to evaluate their output, but human "genius" is no longer needed for scientific breakthroughs. The effect might be that the selection criteria at school might change. Instead of focusing strictly on intelligence, other criteria such as social behavior might become used.
