A conversation about Symbiont Conversion Theory

The day before yesterday I had an interesting talk with a Facebook friend of mine about Symbiont Conversion Theory. He stated that he understands that symbiont conversion may be an alternative to antibiotics, but he suggested that bacteriophages should be used that simply kill the bacteria instead of "reprogramming" them because that would be cheaper. Of course this is a valid argument but symbiont conversion also has an ethical dimension - we don't want to kill organisms, even if they are bacteria. He also said that symbiont conversion would have the effect that the number of bacteria in the human organism would increase and this might lead to space problems. Of course this is also true.
